Match.com has released the updated results of its survey of singles in America, which reveals that of the 5,500 people surveyed, “single smokers are 109% more likely to have experienced multiple orgasms.”
What exactly is an multiple orgasms?
The sexuality resource site Scarleteen defines orgasm as an event usually in response to physical or intellectual sexual stimulation, controlled by the involuntary nervous system. Orgasm often results in muscle contractions in and around the genitals, other muscle spasms throughout the body, and a feeling of sexual release and/or tension. Multiple orgasms are experienced differently by different people. For some people, it is a rapid series of orgasms, occurring within seconds of each other. For others, there may be an individual orgasm, followed by a brief pause, and then another individual orgasm. For still others, it may be arousal, stimulation, followed by orgasm, total resolution speak for your body returning to its pre-excitation state, followed by further arousal, stimulation and orgasm.” Orgasms are felt and experienced differently by different people. Some people feel this explosive release of tension. Others feel a rapid contraction and release in their pelvic area. Some may experience ejaculation at the moment of orgasm, but others may ejaculate before or after orgasm, or independently of orgasm. Sometimes the feeling of intense release can occur without any physical stimulation.
How to create an environment conducive to orgasm
If you want to help create an environment conducive to pleasure and orgasm, no matter how many times it happens (if at all!), here are some suggestions:
Eliminate distractions. Set aside time to focus on all the things that make your body feel good. Put your phone on silent, go somewhere where you won’t be interrupted, and enjoy it.
Treat the orgasm as a bonus, not a priority. As I mentioned, focusing too much on the orgasm during sex actually makes it harder to have an orgasm at all, let alone multiple orgasms. Instead, focus on what gives you the most pleasure at any given time.
Use (and not use) your muscles. You can activate your pelvic floor by contracting your core muscles as well as the muscles in your buttocks, thighs and calves. Many people find that this tension facilitates orgasm, since orgasm is simply an involuntary release of muscle tension. For example, to have a stimulating orgasm, I have to be lying down with my legs stretched and tight. I literally cannot orgasm if my legs are bent or unbent. Conversely, some people find tension distracting or detrimental to their pleasure because of muscle cramps or the position they have to adopt to facilitate orgasm. Experiment with the use of muscles to find what works best for you.
Take deep breaths. Seriously. You need to be able to breathe. Many people hold their breath at different times during the pleasurable sensation. Holding your breath or taking quick, shallow breaths (just at chest level) can actually induce a stress response, which is the antithesis of pleasure. Keep breathing down into your chest diaphragm. Pretend you are sucking on a vape pen: inhale for four seconds, pause for one second and exhale for eight seconds. This will activate your parasympathetic nervous system and bring your body out of freeze mode.
How can marijuana help you have a better or even multiple orgasm ?
Match.com’s survey didn’t give an explanation beyond the statistic, so it is just speculating here, but this is suspected that marijuana is useful because it facilitates relaxation and mindfulness, two key elements of pleasurable feelings. If you know you tend to get stuck in your head, try a high CBD variety like Cleopatra. For those who want to amplify the sensations, try a cannabis variety that makes you highly sensitive like Megaton, or Paradox.
What impact has marijuana had on your experience of multiple orgasms? Feel free to share your experiences in the comments.
